WHO WE ARE

Joey’s Van is a cover band based out of East Tennessee that specializes in 90’s-00’s Pop Punk and Emo. With an unquenchable passion for the iconic sounds of the era, this dynamic group delivers a high-energy performance that will give you the dose of nostalgia you didn’t know you needed.

They’ve made an impact in many different cities across the southeast with their high-energy show since their conception in 2019. Known for their sets crafted with intentionality, variety provided with multiple vocals, and popular yet uncommon song choices, they fill a much needed gap in the cover band market.

Joey’s Van was initially intended as a “fun, low-stress side project”. But after witnessing firsthand the hunger for pop punk nostalgia that exists in bar crowds across the nation, the band took off much quicker than they thought it would.

Joey’s Van’s is unique in their rotating lineup as well. Joey Newton, the band’s manager, frontman, and bass player works full time in the music industry and brings other artists along sometimes. You never know who’s going to be in the Van!

Whether the crowd is reliving the glory days of pop punk or discovering these iconic hits for the first time, Joey's Van promises to take them on an unforgettable musical journey. So, have the embarrassing realization that this music is 20+ years old now, accept your mortality, put on your favorite band t-shirt, and come to a Joey’s Van show!

OUR STORY

Back in the seemingly distant year of 2019, many aging millennials across the country were growing dissatisfied in their lives. Some of them started podcasts. Some of them started families. Some of them started divorce proceedings. We started a band.

We’ve been a tight knit group of friends for what seems like a lifetime. Over the years we’ve been involved in several different musical projects, with and without each other. We have always regarded bands like Blink-182, Paramore, and My Chemical Romance as our generation’s “remember when” music. So, when the opportunity came about to put some music together for a local charity event, we knew exactly what we wanted to do.

The name “Joey’s Van” stuck, the gigs started coming, they then stopped coming due to the COVID-19 pandemic, then they started coming again, we caught the bug for playing live music, and the rest is history.

However, growth will always bring about challenges. With shows becoming more frequent and widespread, the commitment level required from the members grew in tandem. But where some have been unable to perform, it’s lead to us being able to feature different artists in our lineup. For both us and the artists, this has been a very synergetic move and an opportunity to grow in a time of perceived scarcity.

Our goal now is to keep growing and take the nostalgia all around the country! We are still obsessed with what we get to do and stay grateful for any opportunity that we have to do it.
